NORTON COUNTY —A California man died in an accident just before 8p.m. Monday in Norton County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1997 Freightliner semi driven by Ronald D. Steelsmith, 41, Phillipsburg, was westbound on U.S. 36 six miles west of Kansas 383 Highway.
The semi rear-ended a bicycle ridden by 68-year-old Robert C. Schlange of Sierra City, California.
Schlange was pronounced dead at the scene and transported Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home. Steelsmith was not injured. Schlange was wearing a helmet, according to the KHP.
