⛳ Monarchs finish third at 3-2-1A state

HESSTON – The TMP-Marian girls’ golf team shot a 393 Tuesday and finished third at the 3-2-1A State Golf Tournament at the Hesston Golf Course. The Monarchs shot a 392 on Monday and finished with a 785, one stroke ahead of fourth place Caney Valley who improved their first day score by eight shots.

Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan shot a 348 on the final day and won the team title by 19 shots over Colby.

Ella Brummer shot a 96 on Monday and 91 on Tuesday and tied for 12th with a 187. Ashley Hipp fired a 104 in the final round and just missed a top-20 finish.

TMP coach Jeremy Coulter said, "It was a team effort all season. The team worked hard throughout the year to get themselves in this position and peaked when it mattered the most."

After shooting an 86 in the opening round, Plainville junior Corbyn Marquess shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished in fourth place at 20-over. The Cardinals Emily Stamper followed her opening round 99 with an 89 Tuesday and tied for 14th.

Wichita-Collegiate freshman Margaret Ulrich finished with a 75 and finished at 9-over for the tournament and won the individual title by seven shots over Colby sophomore Anna Starbuck who finished with an 81 and was 16-over.
