BUNKER HILL – The Thomas County Community Foundation has awarded Smoky Hills PBS a grant for $1,000.

The grant will support Smoky Hills PBS’ literacy leadership initiative in Thomas County:

·      Support of children’s programming on Smoky Hills PBS
·      Support the book distribution program that will provide books to children in head start and early head start programs in Thomas County

“We are thrilled that we once again are able to add to children’s home libraries in Thomas County,” said Larry Calvery, general manager of Smoky Hills PBS. “Educating the youth within our area is just one of the many important things we do for the folks within our viewing area!”

The TCCF Foundation was established in 2001 to support their growing community with funds necessary to keep its agencies and schools alive.

Serving as a catalyst for community action, the Foundation continues to serve as a central hub in northwest Kansas helping their friends and neighbors carry out their philanthropic intentions.

Smoky Hills PBS serves 71 counties in central and western Kansas. More information on Smoky Hills PBS and its programs and projects are available at www.SmokyHillsPBS.org or by calling 1-800-337-4788.
