Hays USD 489 school board to consider security improvements

The Hays USD 489 school board will consider two projects to improve security at the district's elementary schools.

The board members will consider an $148,998 project to install a new electronic secure door access control locks system provided by Nex-Tech.

The system would be on a network, and a lock downs could be initiated remotely.

BOE will consider approval of security cameras that will be installed in the new Roosevelt addition.

The board members also will discuss purchasing security cameras for the addition at Roosevelt Elementary School. The bid from Nex-Tech is $39,000.

The board members will consider approval of $495,278 to complete phase two of the O'Loughlin Elementary School HVAC renovation project in the summer 2024.

The board also will consider adjusting wages for after-school care workers, crossing guards and lunchroom supervisors to $12.91 per hour and the after-school care director wage to $13.91 per hour.
