Helen Ruth (Schemm) Ziegler, 97, of WaKeeney, Kansas passed away on November 4, 2021. Helen was born in Trego County Kansas on May 20, 1924. She graduated from WaKeeney High School in 1943.
Helen was united in marriage to Edward M. Ziegler on June 21, 1948. They were married 64 years. As a student in high school Helen enjoyed using her artistic talents and later enjoyed being a homemaker, working in the garden, cooking, and doing crocheting projects.
Helen is survived by son Kenneth E. Ziegler and wife Jean of Ames, Iowa, daughter Gwen L. Billings and husband Larry of Lawrence, Kansas, son Howard A. Ziegler and wife Laura of Olathe, Kansas, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 6 great grandsons, 5 great granddaughters, and other family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Paul George and Katherine (Pastor) Schemm, her husband Edward, her brothers, Herman, August, Leo, Richard, and Tom Schemm, and her sisters Esther Pearson, Ruth Nollette, and Doris Koehn.
Visitation will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Schmitt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery, WaKeeney, Kansas.
