KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Five individuals on the Fort Hays State women's basketball team received All-MIAA honors for their performance on the court during the 2021-22 season, announced Tuesday (March 1) by the league office. The Tigers had more players recognized on the All-MIAA list than any other school this year.
Jaden Hobbs was a first team selection, while Katie Wagner earned a spot on the second team. Whitney Randall picked up third team honors, with Cydney Bergmann and Olivia Hollenbeck both receiving honorable mention status.
This is the sixth time Fort Hays State has had five all-conference winners in a single season, tied for the most in program history.
This is the third All-MIAA honor for Hobbs, and her second consecutive first team selection. She led the league in the regular season with a 3-point shooting percentage of 43.6 percent, 15th-highest in Division II. She distributed an average of 4.9 assists per game, second-most in the league and 22nd in the country, while ranking second in the MIAA and third nationally with an assist/turnover ratio of 3.37. The Alva, Okla. native ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. She leads the team with an average of 1.6 steals per game.
This is the ninth time the Tigers have had a player selected on the All-MIAA first team, and Hobbs is just the second Tiger player to earn multiple first team selections (Kate Lehman 2013, 2014 and 2015). She is the eighth Tiger to earn a trio of All-MIAA honors, joining Kacey Kennett, Tatyana Legette, Carly Heim, Jill Faxon, Beth Bohuslavsky, Kate Lehman and Kaitlyn Edwards.
Wagner's second team selection is the first All-MIAA honor in her young career. The second-year freshman led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. She was second on the team in assists with an average of 3.1 per night, eighth-most in the conference. The Maize, Kan. was one of five athletes to rank in the top 10 in the MIAA in both scoring (10th) and rebounding (seventh). She led the Tigers in scoring 10 times this season, more than any other player. She also led the way with 19 10-plus point games, seven 20-point outings and seven double-doubles.
Randall picked up third team honors after being a first-team selection last year. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 10.6 points per game and was second with a career-high 4.6 rebounds per night. The Alva, Okla. native was one of just three players to play in all 28 games during the regular season, ranking third on the team with an average of 28.1 minutes per contest. She tallied a career-best 32 steals and 13 blocks on the year. The fifth-year senior is up to 1,330 points in her career as a Tiger, 10th-most in program history.
Bergmann received honorable mention recognition for the second year in a row. She ranked fourth on the team with an average of 4.0 rebounds per contest while adding 5.2 points and 0.9 assists per contest. The guard connected on 50.0 percent of her shots on the year, third-best on the team, while ranking second with a free-throw shooting percentage of 81.8.
Hollenbeck also picked honorable mention status for the second-consecutive season. The forward scored in double figures 17 times, including four games with 20 or more points, both second-most on the team. She ranked second on the roster with an average of 12.1 points per night while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per contest, third-most on the team. The second-year freshman led the team and was fifth in the MIAA with 1.2 blocks per night. She was third on the team with 1.3 steals per game, good for 20th in the MIAA. She was one of just three players in the conference to rank in the top 20 in both defensive categories.
