HAYS - The Hays High girls finished runner-up to Manhattan at the Salina Central Invite on Friday.

The Indians of Manhattan bested the Indians of Hays by 14 points, 137 to 123.d

The girls won five events.

Kenlee Vehige won the pole vault at 10'6" to best the school record of 10'1" she set earlier this year.

Lyndi Zimmerman continues to prove she is one of the best sprinters in the state with a 100 meter hurdles gold, finishing with a time of 14.71. Cara Cunningham was sixth at 17.03. 

Zimmerman then claimed silver in the 100 meters with a time of 12.46.

Hays went 1-2 in long jump. Lynsi Kanak took home gold with a leap of 17'2.5" inches and Kamryn McCall followed at 16'7.5".

Brooke Bieker and Rylen Harrington placed in the javelin throw. Bieker won the event at 120'0" and Harrington placed fifth at 106'4".

Sydney Lewallen circled the track in 58.41 to earn gold in the 400 meters. Aralen Maupin was fifth at 1:00.52.

The 4x100 team of Sydney Lewallen, Lyndi Zimmerman, Brooke Bieker and Kamryn McCall also beat the school record with a time of 48.60 which was good for second place.

The 4x400 relay took silver with a team time of 4:06.08.

Chloe Crawford also finished runner-up in high jump at 5'2". Kendall Schulte grabbed a point in the same event with a seventh place finish at 4'6".

Zoe Winter was bronze in shot put at 36'1.75."

Zimmerman placed in the 300 meter hurdles, finishing in 49.25 for fifth. Cunningham was sixth at 50.23.

Alexa Cooley placed fifth in the 800 meters with a 2:32.28 race.

Kamryn McCall placed sixth in the 200 meters at 26.29 and Sydney Lewallen was 5th with a time of 26.48.

Cassidy Smith placed seventh in discus at 95'7" to grab a point.

The boys finished in a tie for fifth with Wichita Southeast at 71 points. Manhattan won the meet at 115 points.

Three Hays throwers placed in the discus. Gus Corsair, who committed to Oregon for football earlier in the week, won the event at 165'5". Parker McGuire was fifth at 149'5" and Jaxson Chartier was sixth at 144'5".

Chartier, who signed with Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday for throwing, followed that finish up with a silver in shot put at 54'1.50". Caleb Englert was one spot behind at 51'6.5".

Corbin Giebler was runner-up in the javelin throw at 155'4".

Brogan Albers also grabbed a silver medal in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.20.

The boys 4x100 team took second at 51.36.

Jace Myers went 13'0" in pole vault for bronze. Archer Amrein also grabbed a bronze medal with a 20'9" jump in long jump.

Connor Sloan ran the 400 meters in 51.79 for fifth place.

The 4x400 team placed fifth with a team of 3:36.87.

Levi Dunham grabbed two points with a sixth place finish in the 1600 meters at 4:51.38. The boys 4x100 relay was sixth at 43.39.

Brogan Albers was also sixth in the 300 meters with a 49.25 finish.

Hays heads to the Western Athletic Conference meet on Thursday, May 14th. They will then host a 5A Regional meet on Thursday, May 21st.
