KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll, released on Wednesday. The Tigers will begin where they left off at the end of their brief 2021 spring campaign.
Last year, FHSU posted a record of 4-2-1 in a brief spring season that saw them finish second in the Great American Conference standings. The Tigers enjoyed time inside the Top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches spring poll in 2021 before finishing the year in the receiving votes section.
Rogers State, the GAC regular season and tournament champion of the brief 2021 spring season starts the year at No. 12 in the poll, while Northeastern State is tabbed No. 19. By receiving votes, Fort Hays State gives the Great American Conference three of its eight men's soccer programs referenced in the preseason poll.
Fort Hays State will look to continue the longest active streak in NCAA Division II of making the NCAA National Tournament. The FHSU men have qualified for the national tournament eight consecutive years. The NCAA did not hold national championship tournaments for fall sports in 2020-21 due to issues with the COVID-19 pandemic. Fort Hays State's deepest run in the national tournament occurred in 2018 when it made the national semifinals.
