
Longtime Goodland resident Louie Gregory Yarger passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He was 71 years old. Louie was born February 4, 1950, to James and Norma Jean Yarger. He grew up on the family farm north of Goodland, attended Prairie Star one room school house, a country school through 8th grade, then Goodland High School, graduating in 1968. Louie began his career as a truck driver at the age of 18. He logged many miles hauling a variety of cargo from one coast to the other and everywhere in between for several years. He took a break from trucking and opened Louie's Bar in downtown Goodland that ran for several years before returning to trucking.
Louie never knew a stranger. He enjoyed going to coffee and having drinks with friends. He loved music, going to the movies, and traveling. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Yarger of Goodland; brothers, Michael (Cindie) Yarger of Goodland and Larry (Mary) Yarger of Excelsior, MN; daughter, Cindy George of Riverton, WY; son, Patrick Tiede of Manhattan, KS; grandchildren, niece, nephews, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his father James Yarger; son, Thomas Tiede.
