2 hospitalized after driver falls asleep, SUV overturns on I-70

THOMAS COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just before 9a.m. Friday in Thomas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Cadillac Escalade hauling a trailer and driven by  Catalina Ortega Archuleta, 59, Aurora, Colorado, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just east of the U.S. 83 exit.

The driver fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV entered the median spinning counter clockwise, overturned in the median and came to rest on its wheels, facing westbound in the westbound lane.

EMS transported Archuleta and a passenger Celestino Archuleta, 57, Aurora, Colorado, to the Logan County Hospital. They were both properly restrained, according to the KHP.
