
A tornado watch is in effect in Ellis, Ness, Rush and Trego counties and several other counties until 11 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service in Dodge City said early Thursday evening.
There is a risk of severe weather mainly for areas east of Dodge City and south of Hays, as a warm front enters south-central Kansas. A possibility of a supercell is possible after 6 p.m.
Hail larger than 2 inches and a slight possibility of tornadoes is possible.
A high wind watch also will remain in effect until late Friday night, with south winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 55 mph predicted.
