TOPEKA - Ellis has drawn the No. 1 seed for next week's 2-1A State Baseball Tournament and will open with Shawnee-Maranatha Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
Class 2-1 State Tournament Bracket
The Railers enter state with a 19-0 record. They defeated Ellinwood, Sacred Heart and Inman to win their own regional, outscoring the three 23-3.
Maranatha Christian Academy is 10-8. They defeated Northern Heights 5-4, host Lyndon 11-0 and Eskridge-Mission Valley 3-0 in regionals to advance. The Eagles have won seven straight after starting the season 3-8.
Valley Falls (19-2) is the No. 4 seed and plays Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan (13-8) in the final first round game at 5:45 p.m. The other half of the bracket has No. 2 seed Sedgwick (22-1) playing No. 7 Belle Plaine (13-10) at 11:00 a.m. followed by No. 3 Colony-Crest (22-1) and No. 6 Spearville (12-9) at 1:15 p.m.
