HAYS - Hays opened the game with a 22-1 run and never gave Great Bend a chance in a 78-31 victory.
The Indians opened the game with the first seven points before the Panthers knocked down one of two free throws. Hays scored the next 15 points to take firm control of the game at 22-1 with 3:38 left in the first quarter.
The Indians led 25-6 after one quarter and boosted their advantage to 36-9 midway through the second quarter. Great Bend made six of eight second quarter free throws for have of their points in that frame. Hays scored right before halftime for a 46-18 lead heading into the lockerroom.
Highlights
The Indians never lifted their foot off the gas scoring the first eight points of the third quarter during a 12-2 run over a four minute span. Hays led 65-27 through three quarters. The Indians outscored Great Bend 13-4 during a running clock fourth quarter for the 78-31 win.

The 78 points is the second most scored by the Indians in a game this season. Hays (21-0) ties a school record for wins in a season. Great Bend ends the season at 6-15.
Hays will host Hutchinson in the sub-state championship game on Friday evening.
