The third-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team continues its non-conference schedule this weekend (Nov. 21-22) with a pair of matchups at the Newman Classic. The Tigers will first take on Eastern New Mexico before battling William Jewell on Saturday, with both games slated for a 3 p.m. opening tip inside Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita, Kan.

The Tigers are 2-0 so far this season, while Eastern New Mexico is 1-2 on the year and William Jewell is 0-1 this year.
Fort Hays State is hitting 46.2 percent from behind the arc so far this season, fifth-best in Division II, while ranking sixth in the country in overall field goal percentage at 50.8 percent. The Tigers also rank fifth nationally with 21.5 assists per contest and 13th with an average of 84.0 points per game.
Talexa Weeter collected the first MIAA Athlete of the Week award of the season after averaging 32.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 60.5 percent from the floor in a pair of wins last weekend. The junior opened the year with a bang, totaling 36 points against No. 11 Concordia-St. Paul. It was tied for the sixth-most points in a game for a Tiger in program history and the most points by a Tiger in more than 20 years. Weeter then totaled 29 points on 13-of-20 shooting against Sioux Falls.
Weeter's 32.5 points per game currently leads all NCAA Division II athletes. Brooke Loewe ranks second in the country with an average of 8.0 assists per contest, while Olivia Mortensen is close behind in 17th nationally with 5.5 assists per game. The duo rank 1-2 in the MIAA. Mortensen is shooting 55.6 percent from behind the arc, second-best in the MIAA.
Scouting Eastern New Mexico
- The Greyhounds are 1-2 so far this season, including losses in each of their last two outings. ENMU defeated Regis to open the year before dropping back-to-back contests against Adams State and Oklahoma Baptist.
- Four Greyhounds are averaging in double figures in scoring, including Chloe Dallas' team-best 14.0 points per contest. Dallas also leads the way with 8.7 rebounds per night.
- ENMU has hit 8.7 3-pointers per game so far this season, second-most in the Lone Star Conference.
Series History with the Greyhounds
- Eastern New Mexico won the lone meeting between the two teams nearly 32 years ago, winning 88-73 in Kearney, Neb.
Last Meeting with Eastern New Mexico
- Easten New Mexico used a big second half to defeat the Tigers 88-73 on day one of the 1993 Tel-Star Lady Loper Classic in Kearney, Neb. (12/2/93).
- The Zias outscored FHSU 45-31 over the final 20 minutes of action after taking a 43-42 lead into the locker room, holding FHSU to just 9-of-32 from the floor in the second half (28.1 percent).
- Four Tigers scored in double figures, including a game-high 21 points from Kris Osthoff thanks to an 8-for-12 shooting day.
- Kristin Wiebe added 20 points, with Amy Scoby totaling 11 points and Karla House chipping in 10 points.
- Jennifer Goble went off for 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting while adding nine rebounds to lead the way for ENMU.
Scouting the Cardinals
- William Jewell is 0-1 this season after falling to Wayne State in the season opener earlier this week.
- Jariah Harris led the team with 24 points in her Cardinal debut.
- The Cardinals shot 40.8 percent from the floor and hit seven 3-pointers as a team.
- Jenni Croy is in her first season as head coach at WJC after spending 18 seasons at North Central Missouri College, where she accumulated 331 wins and a winning percentage of .606.

- The Tigers will have a quick turnaround before traveling to Denver for two more non-conference games early next week, playing a total of four games in six days.
- FHSU will take on UCCS on Tuesday at 5 p.m. (4 p.m. MT) before battling host MSU Denver on Wednesday (Nov. 26) at 4 p.m. (3 p.m. MT).
