WICHITA - The Hays High boys golf team just missed qualifying for state. The Indians shot a 378 and finished fourth at Tuesday’s 5A Regional hosted by Maize South at the Auburn Hills Golf Course. Hays finished one-stroke back of Salina South and three back of second place Great Bend.
The top three teams qualify for state.
The Indians qualified two individuals. Cooper Johnson and Trey Oakley both had 89. Johnson finished 12th and Oakley 13th.
The top five individual finishers not on a state qualifying team advance.
The 5A State Golf Tournament will be held at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28.
