Sue Carrasco, 78, Hays, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 17, 2026, surrounded by the loving family who meant everything to her.
Sue was born on July 17, 1948, to John and Mary (Leiker) Wiesner. She grew up in Ellis, Kansas, as one of six siblings, surrounded by the family and roots that would remain an important part of her life.
At just 16 years old, Sue met the love of her life, “Boise” James Carrasco. The two were married on April 16, 1966, beginning a beautiful love story that spanned nearly 60 years. Their marriage was filled with love, commitment, and the life they built together. Sue remained devoted to Boise throughout their years together and lovingly cared for him in his final chapter before his passing in December 2025.
Together, Sue and Boise raised two children, Dean and Dawn, who became the center of Sue’s world. She worked multiple jobs throughout her life, dedicating the last 35 years of her working career to Enersys. She retired at the age of 75 to care for her beloved husband, a reflection of the unwavering love and devotion she gave to her family throughout her life.
Sue was a beautiful, feisty, one-of-a-kind woman who lived life on her own terms. She spoke her mind freely, loved with her whole heart, and never hesitated to put the needs of those she loved before her own. Her love was unconditional, her presence unforgettable, and her devotion to her family knew no bounds. She was the kind of mom, grandma, sister, and aunt everyone hopes to have—someone who made you feel loved, cared for, and always part of her world.
Some of Sue’s happiest moments were found in the simple pleasures of life and the time she spent with her family. She loved traveling to Arizona, cooking and baking for the people she loved, sewing, painting, decorating, shopping with her daughter, and keeping her home just the way she liked it. Whether she was preparing something special in the kitchen, sharing a shopping trip with Dawn, or making her house feel like home, Sue had a way of showing her love through the things she did. Her home, her traditions, and her time were gifts she shared generously with those closest to her.
Above all, Sue’s greatest legacy is the love she gave and the family she cherished. She was strong, outspoken, caring, and fiercely devoted to the people who mattered most. Though her absence leaves a tremendous space in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely will remain with her family forever. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.
Sue is survived by her son, Dean Carrasco (Pattie) of Schoenchen, Kansas; her daughter, Dawn Robles (Jose) of Surprise, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kelsey Legleiter (Zach), Tyler Carrasco, Aaliyah Robles, Sasha Robles, and Gabriela Robles; and one great-grandson, Callan Legleiter. She is also survived by two brothers, David Wiesner (Cathy) of Wichita and Danny Wiesner (Linda) of Hays; two sisters, Carol Kaiser (Leroy) of Hays and Donna Roberts (Dennis) of Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews who were part of her extended circle of love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, “Boise” James Carrasco; her parents, John and Mary Wiesner; her parents-in-law, Alberto and Evelyn Carrasco; her brother, Bernie Wiesner; her brothers-in-law, Alberto Carrasco Jr. and Howard Hood; her nephew, Terry Kaiser; and her niece, Farrah Carrasco.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has been entrusted to Hays Memorial Funeral Home.
Sue’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and devotion. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever carry her in their hearts. She was loved beyond words, will be missed beyond measure, and will never be forgotten. Condolences and memories of Sue may be shared with her family at www.haysmemorial.com
