Shirley Ann Borger

Shirley Ann Borger, age 81 of Morland, KS went to be with the Lord November 1, 2020 at Gove County Long Term Care Facility, Quinter, KS. She was born to Ralph and Fern (Alta) Baker on August 7, 1939 at the family residence in Morland.

Shirley graduated from Morland High School in 1957. She married Robert (Bob) Borger on August 12, 1967. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage together. They lived in the same home in Morland until Shirley was moved into the nursing home in 2018. They raised two sons, Robert (Rob) Jr. Borger and Chris Borger. 

Shirley worked at Penokee and Morland post office for 31 years. Her strong energetic personality was contagious to all. She was always willing to help Bob with all the happenings that went with the farm, usually with her croc shoes on. Shirley was a long-time member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of rural Hoxie. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school serving at AWANA and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and enjoyed telling others about His love. She loved singing hymns and reading Gods word, up until her final day.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband; children Robert (Rob) Jr. Borger (Debra) of Quinter, and Chris Borger (Jamie) of Quinter; 8 grandchildren; 2 Great-grandchildren; and two brothers Fred Baker (Linda) of Catoosa, OK and Bill Baker (Shirley) of Belleville, KS.

A celebration of life memorial, open to family and friends, will be held on November 11, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist church at 7:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date, at Studley Cemetery in Studley, KS. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles.
