Ramona Yvonne Barnes, 70, of Norcatur, passed away August 29, 2024 at her home in Norcatur. She was born May 31, 1954 in Saginaw, MI to Lloyd C. and Mary L. (Knorr) Sampson.

Ramona grew up in Bridgeport Township, MI and was a 1972 graduate of Bridgeport High School. After high school, she attended nursing school and received her LPN License. Ramona worked at Sentana Norfolk General Hospital and Virginia Beach General Hospital where her focus was on the ICU, Cardiac Care and Internal Organ Specialties. Ramona and Steve moved to Kansas in 2008 to be closer to her family. She then began working at the Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin and she worked there until her health no longer allowed her. Ramona married Steve Barnes on August 16, 2013 at the Norton Christian Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, baking, and crafts (including crocheting and sewing). Most of all, she loved and adored her grandchildren. Ramona loved the Lord and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Michigan (where she was in the Hand Bell Choir) and then she was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton. She volunteered a lot of her time being a Girl Scout Leader and helping with AWANAS.

Ramona is survived by her husband, Steve of the home; son, Jonathan (Mandi) Fick of Norton; daughter, Jennifer Kohfeld of Norton; sister, Elaine Sampson of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren: Madison Fick, Jeffrey Fick, Alexis Kohfeld, and Wesley Kohfeld and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Sampson.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the Norcatur Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10-11:00 am before the graveside at the funeral home.
