KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball is receiving votes in the NABC Preseason Top 25 Poll for the 2023-24 season. FHSU is one of four teams from the MIAA referenced in the poll, with the other three sitting among the Top 25.
Northwest Missouri State is the preseason No. 1 ranked team, while Central Oklahoma is No. 9 and Emporia State is No. 20 to start the year. These three teams along with FHSU made up the top four finishers in the MIAA standings last year. FHSU tied for third with Emporia State at 15-7 in conference play. All four teams won over 20 games in 2022-23.
Fort Hays State has at least received votes in the NABC Top 25 Poll for three straight years now. The Tigers reached as high as No. 18 in the poll during the 2021-22 season and received in five editions of the poll last year. FHSU won over 20 games each of the last two seasons, going 23-6 in 2021-22 and 21-9 in 2022-23.
Fort Hays State opens its season this weekend in Emporia, Kansas against a pair of opponents from the Great American Conference. The Tigers face Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday (Nov. 10) before taking on Arkansas Tech on Saturday (Nov. 11).
