KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State was picked tenth in the MIAA Preseason Women's Soccer Coaches Poll, released on Wednesday.

Fort Hays State enters its first season under new head coach Alex Hagan. Forward Chaley French is the top returning scorer from last season, tallying six goals in her first season with the Tigers. Taylor Hill played over 1,300 minutes last year for the Tigers and has seven career goals in just two seasons. Hadley Ostrander was the primary goalkeeper last season playing in 16 matches with 15 starts. She recorded 55 saves for the season.

Washburn held the top spot in the poll with 138 voting points, followed by Pittsburg State with 136. Washburn made the deepest run of any MIAA team in the NCAA Tournament last year, making the national semifinals. Pittsburg State was the MIAA regular season champion, while Missouri Western claimed the conference tournament championship. Central Missouri joins that bundle of three teams to hold the top four spots in the poll and all four played in the NCAA Tournament last year.

Fort Hays State opens regular season play on Friday, August 28 in Kearney, Nebraska against William Jewell. They take on Rockhurst two days later in the same location. The Tigers play their first home contest on September 25 against Central Missouri.
