PLAINVILLE — TMP’s Brynn Rebel threw a perfect game and homered for the third time in four games, leading the Monarchs to a doubleheader sweep of Plainville.
Game 1: TMP 17, Plainville 0
The Monarchs scored six runs in the first inning, added three in the second and eight more in the third while Rebel turned in three perfect innings in the circle as TMP earned the 17-0 run-rule victory.
TMP recorded back-to-back run-scoring doubles and a single to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Three straight walks, including two with the bases loaded, extended the lead to 4-0. TMP added two more runs on a passed ball and a steal of home for a 6-0 advantage.
After Rebel struck out the side in the bottom of the first inning, she tripled home a run to put TMP up 7-0.
Later in the inning, with two outs, TMP added two more runs on a pair of passed balls for a 9-0 lead.
Rebel doubled to lead off the third inning, and Paige Koenigsman singled her home to make it 10-0.
TMP added three more runs on a pair of errors to push the lead to 13-0.
Two batters later, Emma Wasinger added a two-run single, and the Monarchs capped the inning with a run on a passed ball and an error to secure the 17-0 run-rule victory.
Rebel doubled and tripled and finished 3 for 3. Rebel, Wasinger, Koenigsman and Windholz each drove in two runs.
Rebel (11-1) recorded her first perfect game of the season with seven strikeouts.
Game 2: TMP 19, Plainville 2
The Monarchs sent 11 batters to the plate in the first inning of the second game, scoring six runs.
Rebel got the scoring started with an RBI single, and Koenigsman added a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. The Monarchs scored their fifth run on a Piper Simpson single. The sixth run of the inning scored on an error, giving TMP a 6-0 lead.
Plainville scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, but TMP answered in the top of the second, sending 17 batters to the plate in a 13-run inning.
Rebel homered to lead off the inning. Two batters later, Adison Watson doubled home a run to make it 8-2.
Raegan Allen followed with a two-run double, and Simpson added an RBI single for an 11-2 TMP lead.
Simpson later scored on an error, and TMP added another run on a wild pitch to make it 13-2.
An error by the left fielder allowed two more runs to score, and another wild pitch pushed the lead to 16-2.
Watson singled home a run, scored on an Allen double, and Simpson tripled home Allen to make it 19-2.
TMP closed out the victory with a scoreless third inning.
Rebel went 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Allen and Simpson each drove in three runs.
Bria Windholz (11-0) earned the win for TMP, matching her career high for victories in a season. She also struck out four and surpassed 200 career strikeouts.
The Monarchs are 23-1 overall and 6-0 in the MCL. TMP travels to Haven on May 12.
