Incumbent state Sen. Rick Billinger, R-Goodland, soundly defeated challenger Larry Dreiling, D-Hays, to win re-election in the 40th Kansas Senate District.
In unofficial results, Billinger gained 27,536 votes to Dreiling's 7,269.
Incumbent state Rep. Barb Wasinger, R-Hays, defeated challenger Eber Phelps, D-Hays, in the 111th House District, gaining 7,093 votes to Phelps' 3,954.
