The Fort Hays State women's basketball team opens a three-game road trip Thursday (Jan. 21) against Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. First tip is slated for 5:30 p.m. inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

Per MSSU policy, attendance by visiting fans is not permitted at this time. Attendance is limited to family of MSSU student-athletes and a limited amount of MSSU season-ticket holders.

At 7-2 so far this season, Fort Hays State is looking to extend its current winning streak to three games. The Tigers currently sit in third in the MIAA standings, one-half game behind Central Missouri in second place.

The Tigers are 34-18 all-time against Missouri Southern, while the Lions hold a 14-9 lead in game played in Joplin. Fort Hays State has won five-straight in the series, tied for the longest stretch for either team in series history. The Tigers have dominated the series of late, winning 10 of the last 11 and 13 of the last 15 meetings. FHSU is 15-6 against the Lions under Hobson, including a 3-5 mark in Joplin.

Fort Hays State leads the MIAA and ranks 14th in Division II with an assist/turnover ratio of 1.25.

Jaden Hobbs leads Division II and ranks in the top 20 across all NCAA Divisions with 32 made 3-pointers this season. Hobbs also ranks in the top 10 in Division II in assists (44, tenth) and steals (24, tenth). She is the only qualifying player in the MIAA shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and behind the arc.

Olivia Hollenbeck's 18 blocked shots are eighth-most in Division II. True freshmen are playing nearly 42 percent of the minutes for the Tigers this season through nine games (752:10).

The Tigers (.338) and Lions (.333) rank second and third, respectively, in 3-point percentage in the MIAA.

Missouri Southern carries a 4-6 record into Thursday's contest, including a perfect 3-0 mark at home. The Lions are looking to break out of a three-game losing skid, with their last win coming more than one month ago (12/19/20 vs MWSU). The Lions hit .333 from behind the arc, third-best in the league. They grab 39.5 rebounds per contest, also third-best in the conference. MSSU commits the third-most turnovers in the league at 17.3 per contest. Madi Stokes leads the MIAA and ranks 14th in the country with 11.6 rebounds per game. Carley Turnbull paces the team with 15.1 points per contest.
