👟 Multis start at MIAA Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. - Six Fort Hays State multi-athletes opened competition at the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Championships Friday with the first half of the men's decathlon and the women's heptathlon.

Taylor Savolt sits in fifth place through four events in the heptathlon with 2,909 points. Savolt hit PRs in both the 100m hurdles (14.71, 855 points) and the 200m dash (25.29, 860 points). She led the field in the 200m race and was second out of 15 runners in the 100m hurdles.

Hadley Williams is 13th with 2,407 points after personal-bests in the 100m hurdles (15.86, 732 points), shot put (31-0, 494 points) and the 200m dash (27.14, 700 points). Ellie Dusselier is one spot behind Williams in 14th with 2,173 points thanks to posting a personal-best time of 29.02 in the 200m dash (553 points).

On the men's side, Jack Pakkebier sits in sixth in the decathlon through the first five events with 3,266 points. He was third overall in the shot put (41-2.25, 640 points), fourth in the 400m dash (50.72, 782 points) and fifth in the 100m dash (11.69, 713 points).

Ethan Salmans currently ranks 10th with 3,009 points after recording four PRs on Friday, including the 100m dash (11.93, 665 points), shot put (30-11.75, 452 points), high jump (5-8, 569 points) and the 400m dash (54.34, 626 points). Malcolm Wiltshire is close behind in 11th with 2,973 points. He also had four personal records on the day, including the 100m dash (12.05, 641 points), shot put (32-9, 484 points), high jump (5-11.5, 644 points) and 400m dash (54.55, 617 points).

The multi-events will wrap up Saturday morning beginning at 10 a.m. before the rest of the squad joins in beginning at noon with field event finals. Running events are slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
