👟HHS’ McCall wins 5A long jump; Girls 9th, Boys 11th at state

WICHITA – Hays High’s Kamryn McCall brought home a gold medal in the 5A girls long jump on Saturday and was one of three individuals and one relay team to earn medals for the Lady Indians who finished 9th in class 5A while the boys had five medal winners and finished 11th at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

McCall won the long jump with a distance of 17’ 5.25 inches. Lilian McGrath was sixth (17’1) and Lynsi Kanak finished seventh (16’11).

McCall also claimed a medal in the girls 100 meter dash. She placed sixth with a time of 12.57 seconds.

Rylen Harrington finished second in the girls javelin with a throw of 132-03.

Lyndi Zimmerman finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a finals time of 15.77 seconds.

The girls 4x100 meter relay team finished fifth (50.10). The team was made up of Morgan Geerdes, Kamryn McCall, Lyndi Zimmerman and Lilian McGrath.

The Hays girls finished with 34 team points.

All five of the Indian boys medal winners were in field events.

Dalton Meyers was the top individual finisher. He was second in the boys javelin with a distance of 191-01. Derek Quach finished sixth (170-01).

Kamani Jones earned a fifth place finished in the 5A boys triple jump (43-06.75).

Harley Zimmerman was sixth in the pole vault (13-06.00) and Gus Corsair was seventh in the boys discus (146-01).

The Indian boys finished with 20 team points.
