⚽ Tiger women fall to Bearcats

HAYS, Kan. - Fort Hays State Women's Soccer fell to Northwest Missouri State on Friday night by a final of 2-1. The Tigers moved to 6-4-1 overall, 3-3-1 in the MIAA, while the Bearcats improved to 6-2-5 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime, but the Bearcats found the winning goal in the 51st minute.

The Tigers scored their goal early, just about three and a half minutes into the action. An Allison Worley shot deflected off a defender right to Taylor Hill who slotted the ball into the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Allison Worley picked up an assist on the play.

The Bearcats responded with a goal in the 18th minute when Adell Gore made a subtle move to create space off a pass from Makenna West. Gore was able to get the ball past Tiger keeper Mackenzie Caldwell for the equalizer. By halftime, NWMSU led in shots 6-5 and both goalkeepers had one save.

The Bearcats took the advantage in the 51st minute off chaos in the box. Ximena Arnau got a shot through traffic off a pass from Ekaterina Theoharidis for what turned out to be the game winner.

Allison Worley led the Tigers with four shots. The Tigers finished the match with a 14-11 edge in shots. Caldwell finished with three saves. NWMSU goalkeeper Lilly Ellis made five saves.
