⚾ Tigers stumble in series finale with East Central

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State baseball team dropped its series finale against East Central Saturday afternoon, losing 13-0. FHSU is now 4-3 on the year, while ECU improves to 1-6 on the year.

The visitors got things going early and often, scoring two runs in the first, four in the second, two in the third and two more in the fourth. Fort Hays State had a pair of runners in scoring position in the home half of the second, but ECU starter Ezra Gustafson escaped the jam with a groundout.

Fort Hays State also had runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings, but were unable to push anything across. ECU completed the game with three more runs in the top of the seventh before retiring the side in order in the bottom of the frame.

Cooper Howell picked up a double in the game, while Elliott Herrmann and Isaiah Ural both singled.

Fort Hays State will return to action next weekend when the Tigers hit the road to take on Colorado School of Mines in a three-game, non-conference series. Action is set to begin on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. CT (noon MT).
