Morris Ray Foster

Morris Ray Foster, 72, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born in Norton, Kansas to Andrew Jackson Foster and Edith (Shafer) Foster the oldest of nine children. Morris graduated from Jennings High School.

After high school, he attended Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Technical School. He continued his education at El Passo Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, earning an Associate’s Degree. He entered the United States Army, September 5, 1975. Morris served for four years and eleven months in Badkorgnak and Frankfort, Germany and later at Ft. Carson Colorado and Ft. Lewis Washington. Morris married Irene (Stremel ) in Canton, Georgia on October 16, 1984.

Morris worked as an aircraft mechanic for Lockheed Martin Corporation, Marietta, Georgia, as well as Northwest Airlines, Minneapolis, Minnesota. After he retired for Lockheed Martin and Northwest Airlines, he worked for Gove Co. Landfill and recycling center. Morris enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling . He volunteered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and served as Chairman and committee member. He was a member of the Grainfield American Legion Post 301, lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the National Rifle Association. Morris was a hard worker. He was described as being outgoing, helpful, and a person who put others first.

Morris leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Irene of the home; step-sons, Jeff Ross of Fairmont, Nebraska and Dale Ross of Auburn, Washington; step-grandchildren, Jenna Wilson and fiancé Cory Ginther, Salina; Randy Ross of Auburn, Washington and step-great grandsons, Jacob, Jeremiah, and Justan Fox of Salina, Kansas; brothers, Jack Foster and wife Dee of Grainfield, Kansas, Jerry Foster and wife Patty Foster of Jennings, Kansas, Carl Foster and wife Tonya of Springfield, Oregon, and Rick Foster and friend Rachel Mapps of Jennings, Kansas; sisters, Linda Dible and husband Gayle of Oakley, Kansas, Jana Hensley of Oakley, Kansas, Joyce Virgil and husband Brian of Garden City, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Jackson Foster and Edith Foster, and sister, Donna Osborne.

A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, May 23, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at the Wakeeney Veterans’ Cemetery, Wakeeney, Kansas with Military Honors provided by the Army National Guard and Grainfield American Legion Post 301. A visitation will be held at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, on Monday, May 20, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
