DODGE CITY – The Hays Larks scored a run in the top of the ninth then stranded the tying run at second base in the bottom of the inning to beat the Dodge City A’s 6-5 Tuesday night at Cavalier Field.

Leo Jiminain’s two-out triple scored Hunter Rosson with what proved to be the game-winning run. Cade Brown retired the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth but gave up a double to Arte Ramirez then walked Roberto Gonzalez but got Tyker Tobey to ground out to end the game and pick up the save.

The Larks scored two in the top of the first on a Jack Torosian sacrifice fly and Tyler LaRue home run. They pushed the lead to 3-0 on a Brady Evans sacrifice fly in the second but the A’s answered with three in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 3-3.

Palmer Hutchison’s RBI single gave the Larks the lead back in the third only to see tie the game in the fifth. LaRue’s second homer of the night gave the Larks a 5-4 lead in the sixth but the A’s scored in the seventh to the game 5-5.

Preston Tabor allowed one run on four hits over two innings if relief and picked up the win. Starter Hunter Marshall gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk over six innings.

LaRue and Hutchison both had two of the Larks eight hits. LaRue drove in two runs with a pair of solo homers.
