 </figure>By CRISTINA JANNEY Hays PostThe Hays school board selected&nbsp;Nuchelle Chance to fill a vacant position on the board during its meeting Monday night.&nbsp;Chance, Fort Hays State University psychology instructor, will serve out the term of Sophia Rose Young who resigned in July because she moved out of the district.&nbsp;Young's term will end Dec. 31, 2021.<figure>

 </figure>Chance will assume her position once she has been sworn in by the Ellis County Clerk.Curt Vajnar, retired Hays High School teacher, also applied for the position.The board approved the appointment on a vote of 4-2, with board members Allen Park and Craig Pallister voting against.
