GREAT BEND — With the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) baseball and softball championships behind them, the Great Bend Recreation Commission is moving on to the next big tournament that will be held at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Class 2-1A State Baseball Tournament will take place at the facility May 27 – 28.
At Monday's GBRC Board meeting, Executive
Director Diann Henderson said tickets to the tournament will be purchased
online.
"Fans need to purchase tickets online," Henderson said.
"When they come through, they will show them on their phone. We want
everyone to know that it will be touchless."
There will be a link on the Kansas State High School Activities Association
website, and it will also be shared through KSHSAA’s social media. The KCAC used
a different online ticketing software and KSHSAA used their format for the
Class 1A-DII State Basketball Tournaments that took place at Barton
Community College.
"It will not be too new to the community, but it will be new to the
guests from those schools," Henderson said. "We will push out a letter
to all the athletic directors from those schools to tell their fans. It
will be new for our staff as well."
With no tournament taking place last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021
will mark the seventh straight state baseball championship Great Bend
has hosted.
