Per-day virus rate flat in Ellis Co.; 7 new cases reported

The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days again remained flat at six since Friday.

For only the second time since Aug. 17, the new case count between reporting days was in single digits. The department updates case numbers each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

There were seven new cases reported since Friday. There are currently 59 active cases, including seven active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,590 recovered cases. 

As of Monday, there were 14 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 16 on Friday, with 10 of those active patients and four in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose from 9.9 percent on Friday to 13.2 percent on Monday.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,649 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 70 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 23,251 tests administered, 14.6 have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
