FHSU Foundation
Much of the work that drives Fort Hays State University (FHSU) forward happens behind the scenes, often through the dedication of individuals who give their time, talent, and treasure.
Among those making that commitment are 38 members of the Fort Hays State University Foundation Board of Trustees. Each trustee serves a four-year term and takes on responsibilities that extend well beyond attending meetings. Throughout the year, these trustees provide leadership, advocate for FHSU, build relationships with fellow alumni and donors, and help advance initiatives that create opportunities for students.
“Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in the fundraising efforts of our FHSU Foundation office and in the success of Fort Hays State University,” said FHSU Foundation President and CEO Jason Williby. “Their dedication to giving back and investing in our students’ success is inspiring, and we are grateful for every one of them.”
Trustees gathered on campus last week for the FHSU Foundation’s annual Board of Trustee business meeting. In addition to conducting board business, members had the opportunity to see firsthand how their support and advocacy contribute to the university’s continued growth and transformation.
During their visit, trustees toured the university’s new Bickle-Schmidt Athletic Complex, an impressive facility designed to serve all FHSU student-athletes in recovery, rehabilitation, and performance optimization. Its athletic training room rivals those found at many Division I universities, further establishing Fort Hays State as a leader in sports medicine within the highly competitive MIAA Conference and Division II.
Trustees also toured the newly renovated and stunning Tebo Library, which is once again thriving as a vibrant hub for students. The building features natural light, modern amenities, inviting study spaces, and services designed to enhance learning and collaboration. The campus tours provide trustees with an inside look at both the progress FHSU has made and what’s ahead for the university and its students.
“Serving as a Foundation trustee is more than an honorary position,” Williby said. “These individuals are actively engaged throughout the year, sharing their expertise, opening doors, making connections, and supporting the university in countless ways. Their leadership and commitment make a meaningful difference for our students and our entire Tiger family. It’s always great welcoming this group back to campus.”

Mr. Clint Albers ’99, ’01, is joining the board’s Executive Committee this year. He previously served on the Alumni Board of Ambassadors from 2022 to 2024 before joining the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2024, where he served on the Audit and Governance Committees. Albers brings a unique perspective to the Executive Committee, drawing on more than 20 years as an educator and administrator. Throughout his career, he has championed the importance of education while holding a variety of roles in public high schools in Hays and Olathe, from a physics and chemistry teacher to principal and now assistant superintendent.
Mr. Curtis Longpine ’79, is returning to the Fort Hays State University Foundation Board of Trustees this year after previously serving as a trustee from 2013 to 2025 and trustee emeritus from 2025 to 2026. He served as board chair from 2019 to 2021 and has contributed to several committees, including the Executive, Development, Nominating, Finance, and Investment committees. Longpine currently serves on the Investment Committee. A longtime Fort Hays State supporter, he is also a member of the university's Wooster Society for including FHSU in his estate plans. Longpine's return to the board reflects his longstanding commitment to Fort Hays State University and its students.
Foundation Board of Trustees reflect the breadth and diversity of Fort Hays State University. They bring experience from a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds, represent all five academic colleges across campus, and live in communities across the United States. Together, they provide a valuable network of leadership, advocacy, and support for the university.
