⚾ TMP-Marian runs wins streak to six with sweep of Railers

ELLIS – The TMP-Marian baseball ran their winning streak to six games with a pair of wins over Ellis Tuesday. The Monarchs won game one 16-1 then defeated the Railers 16-6 in the second game. The Monarchs are now 8-2 on the season.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 16, Ellis 1 The Monarchs scored four runs in the top of the third inning then blew it open with four in the fifth and seventh in the sixth.

TMP scored the first three runs of the game on errors. Adler Brown made it 4-0 on a Logan Baalmann.

Baalman led off the fifth with a home run. Connor Breit added a two-run double and Ian Nehls a run-scoring single to push the lead to 10-1.

Ian Nehls had four of the Monarchs 12 hits. A Brown, Ty Schmeidler and C Breit all had two hits with Breit driving in three runs. Brown and Schmeidler both drove in a pair of runs.

Schmeidler allowed one hit with five strikeouts and one walk over 2 1/3 innings and was credited with the win. Carson Liles allowed an unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts and no walks over 2 1/3 innings of relief. Isaac Purington went 1 1/3 innings scoreless in his varsity debut. Breit closed the game with an inning of scoreless relief.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 16, Ellis 6 (6 innings) The Monarchs scored four in the fourth to break open a one-run game. They then added a run in the fifth and six in the sixth.

TMP grabbed the early lead on Logan Baalmann’s two-run single in the first. The Railers answered with four in the bottom of the inning.

The Monarchs took the lead with three in third. Braxton Basgall opened the frame with a double then scored on an error to close the gap to one. Kendall Walker singled to tie the game. TMP then took the lead later in the inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ty Schmeidler.

TMP scored two of their four runs in the off of Ellis errors. They add two more on a single from Adler Brown.

Conner Breit, Ian Nehls, Carson Liles and Adler Brown all drove in runs in the sixth with singles. Baalmann added an RBI double.

Nehls allowed four unearned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks and picked up the win. Brown and Jacob Seib pitched the final two innings of relief.
