Hays 55, Junction City 21

Katie Linenberger matched the point output of the Junction Blue Jays as Hays High won 55-21 on Friday night in the Indians' first road test of the season.

Hays never trailed and led by no less than five points. The Indians jumped out to a 7-0 lead and led 7-2 and 10-5. Hays went on a long 18-3 run in the first half to build a 28-8 lead. The Indians led 30-11 at halftime.

Hays outscored the Blue Jays 18-10 in the third quarter and 7-0 in the fourth quarter which was continuous clock for the most part winning 55-21.

Hays forced 35 turnovers in the victory while limiting their own turnovers to 10. Linenberger scored a career high 21. Molly Martin added 15. Eight different players scored in the 55 points Hays scored. The point total matches the most the Indians have scored this season. 

Hays improves to 2-0. Junction City drops to 0-3.

Boys
Junction City 58, Hays 48

Hays lead for a majority of the first half and Junction City led for a majority of the second half as the Blue Jays take a 58-48 win during the first home game of the season.

Hays pushed their lead to six on two different occasions at 15-9 and 21-15 in the second quarter. The Blue Jays took a short lived 22-21 advantage on a 7-0 before Hays answered and took the lead into the locker room 27-23.

Junction City got the advantage in the two quarters of the second half. The Blue Jays started each quarter with a 6-0 run. The third quarter spurt was answered by Hays scoring with one second left for a 35-34 advantage.

The Indians led for the first twenty second of the fourth quarter before Junction City used a quick 6-0 surge to take the lead for good. The Blue Jays outscored Hays 24-13 in the fourth quarter, winning 58-48.

Dawson Ruder led Hays with his first double-double, career highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Weimer scored ten before fouling out. Lovell Autry scored 21 for Junction City followed 2o points by Larkin Turner and 14 from Oklahoma football signee Michael Boganowski.

Hays falls to 2-3 while Junction City is 3-0

Hays returns to action on December 19 by hosting Wichita Heights.
