NORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a resurfacing project on a portion of U.S. 83 in Thomas County.

Crews will be working on an 8-mile section of roadway starting at the U.S. 24 junction and ending 10 miles north of the Logan County line.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas where crews are actively working and directed through the construction zone by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Delays of up to 15 minutes should be anticipated.

KDOT expects work to be completed in early May, conditions permitting.

Bettis Asphalt & Construction, of Topeka, is the primary contractor for the $1.3 million project.
