Kansas Judicial Branch 

TOPEKA—Chief Justice Eric Rosen signed orders appointing and reappointing members to three boards and committees.

Judicial Education Advisory Committee

The Judicial Education Advisory Committee recommends and organizes education and training programs for Kansas appellate judges, district judges, and district magistrate judges.

Appointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  1. Chief District Judge Curtis Brown, 23rd Judicial District, which is composed of Ellis, Gove, Rooks, and Trego counties
  2. Judge Rachel Pickering, Kansas Court of Appeals

Reappointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  1. District Judge Timothy Dupree, 29th Judicial District, which is Wyandotte County.
  2. District Magistrate Judge Renee Henke, Osborne County, 17th Judicial District

Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program Board

The Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program Board is made up of active or retired lawyers who oversee program operations, create policies and procedures, form ad hoc committees, recommend new board members, and submit reports to the Supreme Court.

Reappointed to serve through June 30, 2032, are:

  1. Ben Burgess, retired district judge, 18th Judicial District, which is Sedgwick County
  2. Justin Barrett, attorney
  3. Brian Leininger, attorney

Chief Judge Amy Harth, 6th Judicial District, was reappointed to serve through June 30, 2030. The 6th Judicial District is composed of Bourbon, Linn, and Miami counties.

Specialty Court Committee

The Specialty Court Committee makes recommendations to the Supreme Court regarding the development and administration of specialty courts in Kansas district courts.

Appointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  1. Laura Brewer, court administrator, 10th Judicial District, which is Johnson County
  2. District Magistrate Judge Andrew Holmes, 3rd Judicial District, which is Shawnee County
  3. District Judge Sarah Stewart, 6th Judicial District, which is composed of Bourbon, Linn, and Miami counties

Reappointed to serve through June 30, 2029, are:

  1. Zack Anthony, attorney
  2. Ivanhoe Love Jr., truancy court director, 26th Judicial District, which is composed of Grant, Haskell, Morton, Seward, Stanton, and Stevens counties
  3. Troy Smith, director of community corrections, 31st Judicial District, which is composed of Allen, Neosho, Wilson, and Woodson counties, committee chair
