Hays home damaged during Thursday night fire

On July 29, at approximately 9:07 p.m. the Hays Fire Department was dispatched to 2511 Gen. Lawton for a report of smoke coming from residential home.

Upon arrival fire crews found smoke coming from the front door and could see a small fire through a window.

Firefighters forced entry and quickly extinguished the fire.

No occupants were home, and no injuries were reported at the time of the fire.

Damage to the home was minimal.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

The Hays Fire Department, Ellis County Fire Department Company 5, Ellis County EMS, and Hays Police Department all responded.
