The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days increased again from 26 on Friday to 31 on Monday.

There were 77 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Friday. There are currently 413 active cases, including nine active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 2,266 recovered cases.
As of Monday, there were 25 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 33 on Friday, with 20 of those active patients and five in the recovery phase.
The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose slightly to 29.8 percent.
Since reporting began, there have been 2,707 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 28 coronavirus-related deaths.
Of the total 14,293 tests administered, 17.8 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.
