GARDEN CITY – The Hays High softball team closed out Western Athletic Conference play with an 8-4 loss at Garden City Tuesday. It’s the Buffaloes sixth-straight win and it gave them the series win over HHS two games to one.
The Buffs (17-5, 8-4 WAC) scored six in the fourth to break open a 2-2 game. Piper Harris hit a two-run homer to break the tie. They added two more runs on a fielder’s choice then scored two more on a single to center.
The Indians (14-10, 7-5 WAC) had tied the game in the top of the inning on a two-out single from Brynlee Brous followed by a double from Lanie Becker.
Riley Dreher would add a two-run homer in the fifth.
