Marietta Theresa Kamas

Marietta Theresa Kamas was born on Saturday, August 14th, 1926, to Carl and Mary (Baumstimler) Koerner in Hays, Kansas. She passed away on Sunday, October 31st, 2021 in Denver, Colorado at the age of 95.

Marietta was one of three children born to Carl and Mary and she spent her early years in Hays, Kansas. She moved to Denver in her 20s where she worked as a telephone operator. She met Stan Kamas during this time and they fell in love. They were married on March 13th, 1949, in Denver. Together their raised four children, Tracy, Garry, Sherri, and Rob. In 1957, they moved to Boulder where they raised their family. She moved to Lafayette after her husband passed away in 1998.

Marietta was an incredibly talented cross-stitcher and won awards for this talent. She created hundreds of beautiful pieces for family and friends. Marietta was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. She will be remembered for her kindness and the pieces she so carefully created will be cherished for many years to come.

Marietta is preceded in death by her loving husband, Stan Kamas; her parents, Mary and Carl Koerner of Hays, KS and Denver, CO respectively; her brother, Jak Koerner of Benicia, CA; her sister, Kathleen Hilgers of Surprise, AZ; and son-in-law, Dave Shinkle of Windsor, CO.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Cliff) Tuttle of Broomfield, CO; her son, Garry (Cheryl) Kamas of Lafayette, CO, their daughter, Candis (Ian) Hunter and their two sons, David and Graham; and their son Kyle (Ashley) Kamas and their daughters, Aurelia and Khloe; by her daughter, Sherri Shinkle of Windsor, CO, her children Erik Shinkle, Tyler Shinkle, Swoti (Eric) Wise, and Kanchana Shinkle; and by her son, Rob (Susie) Kamas of Longmont, CO, their children, Justin Kamas (Erin Rummel) and their son, Kase; Tiffany (Russ) Hebert and their son Stephen.

A private visitation and graveside service will be held to lay Marietta to rest.
