It was hot and windy in Hays Sunday, hot enough to tie a record high set more than 100 years ago.
According to the reading from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, where official Hays weather observations have been made and recorded for 159 years, it reached 99 degrees in Hays on Sunday.
That ties the record for May 17 set back in 1917.
Wind gusts recorded Sunday at the Hays Regional Airport were as high as 39 miles an hour out of the southwest.
The three-day weather forecast is calling for cooler temperatures with chances of rain.
