⛳ Several area golfers advance to day two of state tournament

Hays High’s Braxton Banker shoots a 15-over-par 87 and finished in 25th place at the 5A State Golf Championships at Quail Ridge in Winfield. Banker did not make the cut to Tuesday's final round.

TMP-Marian’s Pake Dewey shot a 13-over-par 83 and advanced to Tuesdays second round. Heuer Brungardt was 27-over and did not make the cut

At the 2A state tourney in Emporia, both Austin Carroll and Mason Gottschalk of Ellis moved on to the second round. Carroll shot an 83 and Gottschalk an 84 Monday. Trego’s Tyler Malsam also advanced to the second round.

Hoxie sat in second place in the team standings, one-shot behind Sacred Heart. Hill City was in third, 20 strokes back.

Eric Kessler of La Crosse Eric Kessler shot a 95 and tied for 16th place at the Sand Greens tourney in Downs. Zach Rose of Sylvan-Lucas won the individual title with a 5-under-par 65.
