Harold Rudolph Stegman

Harold Rudolph Stegman, 85, Loretto, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021, at Wheatland Nursing Center, Russell, Kansas.

Harold was born April 25, 1936, on the family farm near Loretto, Kansas, the son of Andrew J. and Lucy E. (Sulzman) Stegman.  He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.  He was a 1954 graduate of Victoria High School, Victoria, Kansas.  Born and raised on the family farm, the love of the farm was instilled deep within Harold who was a lifetime farmer. 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Loretto, Kansas; and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.

Harold was a self sacrificing individual taking care of his parents and older brother during their lives.

Survivors include:  one brother, LeRoy Stegman (Bernadette), Grand Island, Nebraska; two sisters, Evelyn Alexander, Wichita, Kansas, and Bernice Wiewel, Russell, Kansas; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Gerald Stegman, Raymond Stegman, Melvin Stegman, Donald Stegman, and Everett “Ed” Stegman.

Visitation will be Friday, June 25, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kansas.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. 

Church visitation will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas, with Father Anselm Eke officiating.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Loretto, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas, or St. Mary’s Shrine Inc., Loretto, Kansas.
