KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team will play as the No. 10 seed in next week's MIAA Championship Tournament, scheduled for May 6-10 in Edmond, Okla. The Tigers will take on seventh-seeded Missouri Western in the opening round on Wednesday, slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
Should the Tigers advance in the 10-team, single elimination tournament, they would play at 1 p.m. each day throughout the tournament. FHSU would next draw regular season champion Pittsburg State in the quarterfinal on Thursday.
This is the third-straight year the Tigers have qualified for the conference tournament, the longest streak for the team since they qualified four times in a row between 2010 and 2013. FHSU is 5-14 all-time in eight previous appearances in the tournament.
The Tigers finished the regular season 17-32 overall and 12-24 in MIAA play, winning each of their last two games to claim the final spot in the tournament. Fort Hays State took two out of three on the road against the Griffons (26-23, 19-17 MIAA) back in March.
Live video of each game will be available with a subscription to The MIAA Network. Radio coverage will be available over the airwaves on KJLS 103.3 FM and online here, with voice of the Tigers Gerard Wellbrock on the call. Live stats will be posted online here. Tickets are available online at a cost of $11 per day or $26 for an all-tournament pass.
