Velma Snow

Phillipsburg resident Velma Snow departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Smith Center Health and Rehabilitation in Smith Center at the age of 85 following a long battle from diabetes complications.

She was born June 25, 1935, on the family farm in Franklin County, NE the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Haubold) Greening.  She graduated High School from Naponee, NE with the Class of 1954.

Velma was united in marriage to Darrel Snow on June 19, 1955, in Alma, NE.  He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was also preceded in death her son Rodney Snow, grandson Chad Snow, granddaughter Kimberly Snow, and son-in-law Glenn Eller.

Velma was a homemaker for many years.  Once the children were raised, she went to work in food service at the Rocket Café in Phillipsburg.   She then moved on to health care, retiring from Phillips County Long Term Care unit at the Phillips County Hospital.

Velma always kept busy; she enjoyed sewing, making quilts, embroidery and was well known for her home made apple pies.  She always kept the freezer full of pies for special occasions.  She was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Phillipsburg.

Velma will be missed by her children:  Karen Eller of Kirwin KS, David Snow and wife Laurie of Smith Center KS,  Janet Larison and husband Tim of Long Island KS, Bobby Snow of Wichita KS, and Connie Asher and husband Albert of Lindsay NE;  one sister Lela Randall of Franklin NE;  8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 1st at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.  The services will be streamed on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook Page.  Burial will follow in the Agra Cemetery, Agra.

Velma will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, KS  67661.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Children’s Mercy Hospital.
