ELLIS - The Walter P. Chrysler Boyhood Home and Museum has announce that they are beginning a restoration project partly funded by the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund of the Heartland Community Foundation.
A grant of $3,500 is to be used towards the replacement of the home’s storm windows. An exterior restoration project is beginning.
It entails the complete scraping, priming and painting of the home. Shutters that were originally on the home will be replaced. New guttering to preserve the foundation and home will be installed plus the replacement of wooden storm windows.
The present storm windows were deteriorated so it is important to replace the storm windows as it will keep dust and dirt from getting into the home and make it more energy efficient. They will also protect the windows from any hail damage that might occur. The new storm windows will also enhance the appearance of the home.
Maintaining the exterior of the home will breathe new life to the home, thereby enhancing the community's commitment to maintain quality attractions for tourism.
Since 2007, Heartland Community Foundation has built stronger communities and helped donors make a difference through charitable giving in Ellis, Rooks, and Trego Counties. Each year, the foundation distributes thousands of dollars back to our region through community grants. @https://www.facebook.com/HeartlandCF/
