MANHATTAN - As part of the Kansas State University presidential community visit initiative, K-State will host a community visit in Thomas County on Wednesday, May 10. The visit includes activities to engage with, listen to and learn from Kansans in Colby and the Thomas County region.
President Richard Linton and K-State Connected 'Cats students will lead several events, including community conversations, recruitment activities and events to highlight university partnerships and K-State Research and Extension relationships. The Connected 'Cats students include Karly Bandel, senior in communication sciences and disorders and pre-speech language pathology, St. Francis, and Parker Reagan Vulgamore, senior in agricultural economics, Scott City.
Bandel is a 2020 graduate of Saint Francis High School. Vulgamore is a 2019 graduate of Scott Community High School.
Events include:
• Community open forum, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Garvey Education Room, Prairie Museum of Art & History, 1905 S. Franklin Ave., Colby. Linton and the K-State Connected 'Cats students will host a dialogue about university and community connections and the student experience.
• Spotlight session: Advancing Kansas communities and businesses, 1:30-3 p.m., Oscar's,845 Main St., Hoxie. Take part in a facilitated conversation about the newly launched K-State 105 initiative, which is a business and community advancement initiative that works with partners across the state. Participate in a discussion with the Innovation Center in northwest Kansas, NetWork Kansas, K-State Research and Extension, and local business and community leaders.
