The large-scale COVID-19 outbreak taking place in Norton took a horrific turn Monday night as it came to light all 62 aged residents of Andbe Home there have contracted the disease, along with multiple staff members, and that 10 of them have died as of Monday night.

As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, this cluster had still not been reported by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment but the Review has been able to learn the outlines of what is unfolding there through multiple sources in the community.

Early Monday morning, the Phillips County Review/Main Street Media and Hays Post broke the story of the tragedy underway in Norton with their reporting on a mass outbreak at Norton Correctional Facility which has infected over 130 people.

Most significantly, over the past 10 days, fully five percent of the population of Norton has been diagnosed with COVID-19, making it the largest per capita outbreak in the United States.
