Phyllis Jean Otter, 83, of Norton, KS passed away November 21, 2024 at the Andbe Home in Norton. She was born February 8, 1941 at her family home in Lenora, KS to Budd and Verla (St. Clair) Tyrrell.
Phyllis was a 1961 graduate of Lenora Rural High School. On January 25, 1964, Phyllis and Francis Otter were united in marriage at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo. She was a deeply caring and devoted woman, whose impact stretched far beyond her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit likely created a lasting legacy in her community, touching the lives of many who were blessed to know her. In her spare time, she enjoyed unwinding with her favorite daytime stories, cheering on KU basketball, and catching up with her many friends. She had a passion for collecting angel figurines, a hobby that brought her great joy and a sense of peace. Phyllis was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she helped with funeral dinners and was a CCD Teacher.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 60 years, Francis; children: Tammy (Ralph) Garcia of Pueblo West, CO, Kerri (Valentin) Hernandez of Garden City, KS, David Otter of Norton, KS, Joan (Victor) Winter of Hoxie, KS, Judy (Kirby) Garrison of Hays, KS, and Patricia Otter of Norton, KS; sisters, Patricia Herman of Bel Aire, KS, June (Jim) Dwyer of Glasco, KS, and Elaine Simoneau of Goodland, KS; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darryl Tyrrell; sister, Paulette Moreland; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Sophia Otter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Verle Herman, Robert Simoneau, Virginia Tyrrell, Mary Agnes and Mike Schamberger, Gerard and Julia Otter, Conrad and Charlotte Otter, and Gilbert Otter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Almelo, KS. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm at the New Almelo Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 26 with a Rosary following at 7:00 pm.
